OK time for a new computer..

So im looking to spend about $1500-1800ish or so.. ive built my own pc's before but i cant be bothered anymore im looking to buy a new gaming pc im in the toronto area and looking for prebuilt ready to go. I would prefer to go with new dual or whatever amd 6900 series video cards or whatever is best. Ive been outta the loop on the best options for the last few years so any advice is appreciated.

I just tried to run BF3 and its chopping and running slow currently so hence i just get frustrated and am willing to throw money at a solution. I dont have the patience to research and get all into it like i used to considering moneys not a big deal but i dont want to spend 2k plus.

Should i just order a cyperpower or digital storm or alienware and be done? If so which one is best for my price range?

I would want a 800 watt powersupply at least and liquid cooling. Ideas?

also, upgrade to a SSD drive

the processor/ram/videocard will all fall into place...

Make sure you get a name brand Power Supply like Corsair...800 would be great

Liquid cooling is awesome because it is very quite...Liquid and SSD makes for one quite PC...but it is not really any better at keeping your processor cooler...there are top notch heat sinks and fans that will do just as good as liquid.

at this point with HDD prices being stupid high it makes more sense to get an SSD for OS and frequent use apps and then maybe reuse an HDD for mass storage.

as for GPU, i got a single 6950 for my BF3 upgrade (was already running an Intel s1155 2500k with 8gb ram) and it runs great as is but i plan to add a 2nd one in the next few months to really kick ass

with intel just released s2011 platform i would take a little bit of time to read up on them before pulling the trigger on the older sockets.
if it only gaming then whatever go s1155 but if you do other CPU/RAM heavy things then s2011 might be better in the long run, mostly on RAM speed/bandwidth and quantity.
this is a list i start with...
and ill plug my old shop just because and i like the quote tool

    Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4GHz 8MB 4-Core S1155 Processor [ BX80623I72600K ] 1 $330.00
    Asus P8P67 PRO R3.1 P67 S1155 ATX Mainboard [ P8P67 PRO R3.1 ] 1 $177.55
    *Kingston KVR 8GB (2x4) PC3-10666 DDR3 Memory Kit [ KVR1333D3N9K2/8G ] 1 $43.00
    Crucial m4 128GB 2.5" SATA3 Solid State Drive [ CT128M4SSD2 ] 1 $197.57
    Asus DRW-24B1ST 24X DVD-RW SATA Drive OEM, Black [ DRW-24B1ST BULK ] 1 $22.00
    Gigabyte Radeon HD6950 OC 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E Video Card [ GV-R695OC-1GD ] x2 $554.00
    Coolermaster HAF 922M Full Tower Case w/No PS, Black [ CS-CM-RC-922M-KKN1 ] 1 $99.00

Thanks for the advice guys, sorry for late reply.

Ive been doing some thinking and I figured id see what the difference in just buying a new video card would make so if it wasnt enough thats easy enough to port over to a new machine. I went to canada computes and bought a new RAdeon 6950 and a new corsair 750 power supply and popped them in and there was a big difference in playing BF3 over my old Radeon 4850 lol. It was choppy almost unplayable but now its definately playable.

Just for information sake, im currently using my old Intel Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz with 6 gigs of ram along with the 6950. I havent kept up to date with processors etc.. how shit is that processor verse an I5 or I7? Someone mentioned new intel processors are coming out?

As for the SSD drives i talked to the dude at canada computes and he said the SSD is only beneficial with loading times etc.. but will not affect actual gameplay which is all i care about at this time, i dont care to wait a few more seconds to load or whatever.

    Think im good for now?

If you have patience then I applaud you...when it comes to technology, I have very little.

Your processor is way behind the new releases, but shit... I got mine 5 months ago and it is starting to lag behind! That being said if you were to jump to a new i5/i7 you will have to get a new mobo that handle them...that being said...if you only need a new mobo/chip/RAM...you could prolly do all 3 of those for under $500

The main thing is that you are happy with what your PC can do now...and if buying a new card and throwing in a new PS has made it run BF3 smoothly...then you are doing just fine IMO!

You'll notice a big difference with a SSD. Load times especially. You should also see applications loading faster, along with your OS. HDD's prices have spike considerably so an SSD may be an option for anyone. For gaming I find that my SSD loads up maps a lot faster then most players even those with better system specs then mine..minus there standard HDDs. So yea if you want to get the best gaming experience a SSD does make a nice considerable improvement. But if you're playing your games just fine now I wouldn't worry about getting an SSD unless you're looking to get more out of your system.
