You would have to confirm and pre-pay at least 1 month in advance. I would expect it to be somewhere in the area of $100 per person plus hotel room. I haven't done any research just basing it on a LAN event I've been to a couple times in the past.

This would be a proper LAN party in a hotel conference room or something similar. It would be a weekend event. I would expect to be able to get hotel room discounts for those attending from out of town.

that's a LOT to spend in a weekend... I think hat's half of what I spent including gas and expenses driving around the states for a week straight

100 bucks is too much for 48 hours of solid gaming fun? what would be a more reasonable price? would you do it for $75?

imho, a couple hundred bucks (food, lan party, hotel room) for a weekend of fun is excellent value...

I think your first suggestion look very reasonable if it's including lodging. If ever you guys would have extra, then you guys can agree in potting it as the "grand prize". Make sure to do draft picks!

the last lan i went to 3 years ago was in ohio and it was 75 bucks. maybe i could do it cheaper but you're still looking at over 100 bucks for a weekend with lodging and food included. if that's too rich for people then so be it. i think it's very reasonable. obviously there would be no profit. there would also be game tournaments, poker, etc to spend your money on and maybe win some back. ideally, we'd get some sponsors to donate prizes and swag.

i wish i had a big enough place to host a lan. if i did it at my place i'd only be able to host about 5 to 10 people and i wouldn't want to be selective who i invite.

i had to vote no cause it would cost me way more than 100 bucks.

Yeah... I think it'd be an easy $100 +++ depending how the person was getting there... if they stayed at a hotel/motel... even if 3 people roomed up, food, etc etc.

When I had my bbq's here it was about $140-$170'ish for food and that would cover a like 4 cases of pop, a couple cases of water, and a shit load of food for like 30+ people.

If anything... you'd have to do something funny/gay where you had a meet up at a bowling lane or something with a bar, where it might only cost the average person $20 bucks for a night? Plus snacks... Plus their drinks of course? Sorry, not trying to jack your thread... or change the subject. $100 might be a piece of cake for some people and then to others, they might not think they'd have a hundred bucks work of fun? lol... But yeah, I think you are right about the $100'ish a piece... min?

Id be up to it, the issue is transportability computers. for $100 I wouldn't mind coming if a computer could be supplied.

So down! Maybe you guys could even have a fund raiser or something so that people who can't afford it can come too! I know I could pitch an extra 20 bucks or something if it helped someone get there.

What ...the .... fuck ...
Who sleep's at a LAN party??? You'r gurenteed to be magged out. Go ahead, I dare you to try to get some shit-eye when we're at the LAN party.
Thinking of getting a hotel / motel? Don't even think you'll be safe there too, because you won't!!

If you've ever been to a LAN party thats more than let's say the usual 10 people or so, nobody sleeps....no one can sleep!!!

Also, wtf hotel conference room?? Why not a Legion? Rotary Club? Knights of Columbus? Buddy, conference rooms are the most expensive.. hence "Conference rooms" we all don't have suits and ties here... lol!

@Bacon we're hosting this LAN party at ur rez. :)

...Also, research provided within 2 minutes..
LOL!! There are computer cafe's through out the city of Toronto who support LAN parties (for those who don't have or want to bring their comp. rig) they supply them!
Yes, for apprx. the same amount ($100.00) / person, or less will host the damn LAN party, supply the electricity, sell you food / snacks and what not...

So I beg to differ the idea on a conference room, if I were to spend $100 on a LAN party, it wouldn't as hell be at a hotel...I've made that mistake twice now.

There are so many con's than pro's to hosting a LAN party @ a Hotel room....The # 1 rule that we've experienced in the past is: Electricity consumption. (Hotel's aren't happy about LAN parties and excessive hydro use)
Not to mention I can't remember how many people we're 'tossed' out of the LAN party for either being drunk, or too loud.
Also, they baby-sit your ass and check up frequently time-to-time as they wouldn't want their over-night customers to be discouraged..

I'm not trying to burst your bubble here bud, great idea and all... I think it could work at a c. hall if we had a good supplier. (Major hotel chains won't supply more than a certain amount of electrical outlets, tables & chairs) as the past LAN event's I attended to blew the breakers easily more than 5 times through out each night. (Then you get computer rager's about their pc possibly shorting out...then you have the hotel angry because of the breakers, and not to mention the customers who are staying at the hotel who else were effected by the temp. black-out)

We blew the breaker @ 3 in the morning, and the front receptionist was basically the only one around at the time and didn't know where the breaker box was, who to call, where to even look... so a good chunk of the hotel was out of powere till friggen 5:30 am.. almost 3 hrs later!! bs!!!

Overall, talking from experience the idea of holding a LAN party at this size shouldn't involve a hotel's conference hall...IMHO! :)

Ya its funny how random stuff trickles in sometimes...

But for the hell of it? The net cafe thing isn't bad for those who are into this. I'd have to guess you'd need at least a good 20+ people or more to get this going. I'm not familiar with any of these places, but is there any out there which are like big enough for 50+ people? Feel free to share/post stuff, places etc for the hell of it to those reading who are into this stuff? takeitez...

I live like 5 minutes away, they've been there for ages, they single handedly defeated rival internet cafe's since like '02?
They are honestly the last internet cafe still alive and kicking now in '11
The owner is a korean lady, she's ok. She sometimes buys pizza for her customers.
location is easy by TTC (public transit) just a few mins walk from Donlands station
as for parking, I know the owner kinda who owns that parking lot nearby and it holds like 20+ cars I think.

Perhaps someone should inquire? just throwing it out there.

I think this looks nice. Do you know how much does she (the owner) ask for a day? Is booze allowed for private parties? What about some food? How many PCs?

Maybe we should open a special donation account for this one and see if we can get enough people/money in the next three weeks, with a minimum contribution of the total price the owner asks divided by the number of PCs?
